CVMC Meeting —March 15, 2011

Thanks to Fred and Margaret Walder for arranging our meeting location at Joe's Inn on Buford Road in Bon Air.

We had a wonderful turnout of 18 people for tonight's meeting. I'm happy to announce that we were visited by three new families and we have now five new members in the Central Virginia Miata Club.

I thanked Cory for leading the last Miata club meeting, during my absence. He reported that approximately 10 people attended that meeting. He also reported that only a few people were able to attend the trip to the Tractor Museum.

For the benefit of our new members, I provided an overview of how our club generally operates. Reviewed the meeting times and general procedures for rallys, as well as how our dues support our minimal expenses and charitable giving.

We discussed the need for a volunteer to lead a rally for this month and Brian and Susan volunteered to lead a trip to Farmville this coming Saturday. Information on the rally time and starting point are provided on the website.

Mike and Marilyn have volunteered to arrange the November meeting and will coordinate the November event - possible participation in the Ashland Old Time Holiday Parade!

For those of you who have not yet volunteered to host a meeting or a rally there are still opportunities, particularly during the summer months. We currently to not have anything scheduled for June, July, or August. Anyone wishing to volunteer for these sessions, please contact us zoom@centralvirginiamiataclub.net.

Other items of discussion include a solicitation of interest in motocross events, identifying people who are into building cars and doing automotive projects. I encourage each of you to network with other members get to know each others interests and skills and see how you might be able to help each other with your interest in various Miata issues.

On a personal note, it was wonderful to be with all of you tonight and to celebrate my continuing recovery from surgery.

PS: for the benefit of new members, I want to state that we do use sports radios as a means of communication during our rally, particularly from the lead car to the tail car. If you have sports radios please bring them with you to the rally. If you do not have radios, that's fine. You will just position yourself somewhere in the middle.

I hope to see all of you at the rally and upcoming events.

All the best,
Bud Deihl
